Judge Orders $1 Million Returned to Exotic Dancer

A federal judge has ruled that Nebraska cops must return over $1 million confiscated at a traffic stop from a woman who saved the money $1 at a time during her 15 year career as an exotic dancer.

The money belongs to Tara Mishra, 33, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., who began putting aside her earnings when she started dancing at age 18, according to an opinion U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon wrote last week. The money was meant to start her business and get out of the stripping business, the judge wrote.

State troopers confiscated the money in March 2012 when they pulled over Rajesh and Marina Dheri, of Montville, N.J., for speeding in Nebraska, according to court documents. The Dheris are friends of Mishra and had been given the cash so they could buy a nightclub in New Jersey. Mishra would own half of the business and the Dheris would own the other half.

Mishra had packaged the money in $10,000 bundles tied with hair bands and placed in plastic bags, and it was stashed in the trunk of the Dheri's rented car, which the Dheris were driving to Chicago. When they were pulled over for speeding, a state trooper asked the Dheris if he could search their vehicle, which they allowed, Bataillon explained.

The state trooper found the money and after suspecting it was drug money took the Dheris into custody, according to the judge's opinion. But police did not find any evidence of drug activity in the car and a K-9 analysis found only trace elements of illegal drugs on the cash, according to Bataillon.
Neither Mishra nor the Dheris could not be reached for comment.

"The government failed to show a substantial connection between drugs and the money," Bataillon wrote in his opinion. "The dog sniff is inconsequential…The court finds the Mishras' story is credible…Ms. Mishra did have control over the money and directed the Dheris to deliver the money to New Jersey for the purchase of the business."
Bataillon ordered that Mishra receive cash or a check in the value of $1,074,000 with interest.

Lap-Dancing Cleveland Stripper Critical After Falling 15 Feet From Balcony

A Cleveland stripper is in critical condition after attempting a tricky move during a lap dance that instead caused her to tumble off a balcony, landing 15 feet below, police say.
Lauren Block, 22, was entertaining a customer on the second floor of Christie's Cabaret at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday when she attempted a "jump-dance" move that misfired, the man getting the lap dance told police.
"He stated that she grabbed the rail, as he was facing away from the balcony, and she tried to complete some sort of jump-dance move, and accidentally went head first over the rail," a Cleveland Police Department incident report said.
Block suffered "massive head trauma" and was lying on the floor of the club when police and paramedics arrived, according to the report.
She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where she remained in critical condition.
Cleveland Police said they are no longer investigating the incident, which they view as an accident.
Christie's Cabaret, a chain of "Gentlemen's clubs," has not responded to requests for comment.

How could they arrest you for prostitution? Isn't a prostitute that poor ignorant drug addict who stands on the streets and sells her body for a few bucks to anyone who comes along? What you were doing was not illegal, was it? And besides, the cop who arrested you. . . he entrapped you, and that's illegal, isn't it?
If you live in California, entrapment for prostitution is legal (even though it should be unconstitutional, it has not been ruled against because no one has been able to get a case heard in a high court of appeals), thanks to liberal democrats who desire to protect us poor stupid women from being exploited. And, in California, prostitution is so vaguely defined that it probably includes behavior that you thought was acceptable and legal. You probably thought that if you didn't have sexual intercourse or give a "blow job" you were not committing prostitution. Or, you thought that if you were doing these things in front of a camera, you were protected - just exercising your first amendment rights. And if you thought that you weren't breaking the law because you didn't take money for the sex act, but you took other consideration instead, you are wrong.
Unfortunately, if you get arrested, and if you plead guilty or are convicted, you may end up with a prostitution record which will brand you as a prostitute forever. Such a record will prevent you from being able to do certain things, so it is important not to plead guilty or get a conviction if at all possible. Not to mention a conviction for prostitution carries a mandatory jail sentence on the first offense, and sometimes up to a year on the second offense.
* Know what your rights are and know the law!!!!! The police expect you to be ignorant of your rights and of the law - so they often get away with doing things to you that are illegal. By knowing what the law is and what your rights are, you can protect yourself from police abuse.

That’s what was going through my head when I got about halfway through this email, which is shared here with the writer’s permission:

I’ve waittressed at a couple different clubs in California for a little over six months.  One night at work, I met a young attractive man who said he could help me make more money.  He told me he “sells conversation,” and could teach me to maximize my earnings just by improving my interactions with my customers.  I’m pretty introverted and tend to keep to myself at work, and I’ve always known that the tips I make are more from my looks and less from any actual hustling on my part.  We hung out a few times, and it became apparent that he does not sell conversation, he sells sex.  He runs an escort service.  I let him know I wasn’t interested in that, and he said he still wanted to help me start dancing.  I’ve always been interested in making the switch from waittressing to dancing, and he said he’d help me buy the shoes and the clothes and get my roots done etc… Not clear on what he was getting out of this situation, I asked.  He said that I could start dancing on my own and after a few slow nights I’d probably quit.  Or, I could work with him, and he’d invest in me, and if I put my cash in his hand at the end of the night, he’d make sure that regardless of how much I made dancing he would pay my tuition, keep me comfortable, etc…  Also, if I’m working in a club and look like I have money, I think he believes that I could attract girls for his business, as well as direct paying men to it.

I’m kind of at a loss.  I know that there’s red flags here, but if he’s willing to invest in me and I’ve made it clear that I won’t be escorting, this could work right?  None of my friends do this kind of work so I don’t really know who to run this by.

I gave him five lap dances before he claimed he did not know they were 20$ per dance, then bolted without paying me. Before he did, though, he nervously stammered about how he liked this club because it seemed to respect patrons' privacy, like we were entering into some tacit agreement.
We weren't! First of all, as a man coming to a strip club by himself when his girlfriend was out of town, there was no way you didn't know that every club charges 20$ a dance. There are signs up saying as much too, but because I gave you the benefit of the doubt I even agreed not to charge you for the last dance. But then again, even if you did not know, saying you were going to the ATM directly outside and then bolting after you felt you had solicited some confirmation that I wouldn't tell on you is a dirty, dirty thing to do, and here's why.
I should not have to convince you that the work I do deserves pay like everyone else, but because you seem like a stupid man, I will give you a quick run-through. I do not make any hourly/shift wage. In fact, I have to tip out every night that I work. Its called a house fee, it can run up to 200$ depending on the club, and its part of a model that is pervasive throughout the service industry. This is also why you should also tip waitresses and bartenders fairly. I am also not an employee but an independent contractor, meaning I have no worker's rights or larger support network, like a union.

The issue at hand is "Strippers for Ron Paul." Why would the adult entertainment industry support such an obvious Christian? It is because the Christian congressman, Ron Paul, understands the proper role of government in the United States of America. Government should not dictate morality. Christians are instructed to cast stones if only free from sin. According to Biblical teaching, we are all born into sin and Ron Paul is the only candidate of the Republican Party doing both what his Constitution and Bible demands. I don't know which he puts first, but I presume that it doesn't matter because they aren't incompatible.

Free will and free persons. Ron Paul will not likely be giving personal support to strippers, in dollars or encouragement, but he supports, in legislation, their right to be free. For that, this mother, wife, small biz owner, inventor, Libertarian Party county chairman, and ex-stripper thanks him.
